Winter Riding on the Riviera

Situated near the harbour town of Sanremo we have a huge variety of trails and locations on offer, from the intense DH runs of San Romolo, to the gentler trails of Alassio.  Whether you want some pre-season training or just to get away from the mud and rain, we have something for you.

With temperatures averaging 17 degrees with lots of sunshine we are lucky to be able to ride all year in Liguria. The coastline varies tremendously from the hills above Nice to the EWS trails of Finale Ligure, with peaks reaching 1,300m and descents finishing at the sea. Being the home of Enduro, there are also many Enduro races at the start of the season, from February onwards.  If you are interested in booking a race package please get in touch.

Accommodation is arranged in hotels, luxury apartments or villas right by the sea, so  even for non riding partners or families, there is something for everyone.

We also offer day and package shuttle uplifts, so if you would like any further info and would like to book just contact us.

The coast of the Riviera dei Fiori and the Cote d’Azur offers many locations to ride as listed below.

Valle Roya & Dolceacqua

Sospel (France) and Dolceacqua based on the lower part of Valle Roya and just 7km from the sea. The terrain here is high and open with steep sided valleys. Sospel has some excellent DH runs and many Enduro stages. In February and March this area also hosts a number of Enduro races.

Sanremo/San Romolo

Famous for its DH courses, many of the pro teams and manufacturers come to train and test their equipment here. Plenty of fast technical runs also means many Enduro riders train above Sanremo. The Italian Super Enduro was born here back in 2007.

Molini di Triora

Molini needs no introduction. Being just 30 mins up the Val Argentina, many of the trails are open in winter including the famous Agrifoglio. Terrarossa and Perallo which are perfect for either Enduro or DH shuttle runs. Expect 10km plus trails with just a 15 to 20 minute uplift.

Val Prino & Imperia

Plenty of XC and Enduro riding of a different style in the hills above Imperia amongst the olive groves and along ancient mule trails.

Diano Marina & Alassio

Stunning area and trails right above the Mediterranean, perfect for all types of MTB with bike parks and gentle and more technical XC runs.

Finale Ligure

Now world famous, the upper trails from the Nato base may be closed in winter but the EWS trails and the hills above Finale are open during the winter months.

We operate our winter destination from November until late March. We are closed over the Christmas period.

We are very flexible on our packages in the winter period, so if you just want a day shuttle or a week package we can offer something to suit. Contact us for details.

Bike Choice & Abilities

Bike choice will depend on what sort of riding you wish to do from DH to XC.  For more general AM / Enduro riding we recommend 130 – 160mm travel bikes preferably with reinforced tyres and disc brakes no smaller than 180mm. A dropper post is a good addition but not essential. Alternatively hire one of our bikes which are perfect for the terrain.

You don’t need to be an experienced rider to join us but some mountain biking experience is essential. If you are able to do a UK red graded trail without problems and have a can do attitude (there will be a learning curve) then our trails will be fine for you.
