Shuttle Enduro Tour

A two centre tour based in Nava and Molini that allows full shuttle bus access to the best trails Liguria and the Maritime Alps has to offer including Finale Ligure, Calizzano, Nava, Molini and Sanremo.

This is a fully supported 2 centre based 6 day tour. The tour offers a huge variety of trails from the fast and flowing to the steep and technical. All the climbs will be by shuttle bus and 4×4, so there is almost no climbing involved although some trails may require a 15 min push… but worth it!!

The first half of the week in based on the Piemonte/Ligurian border of Italy and the alpine peaks of Nava/Calizzano and Finale Ligure where it’s fast flowy and loamy. Next it’s over to Molini in Val Argentina with its steep sides, long technical singletrack and medieval  villages. Finally to the coastal trails above San Remo.

We  start the week with the easiest of the trails gradually building up to the bigger and technical trails. It is possible not to repeat the same trail twice but many will suck you in time and time again.

Typically in a week you will have shuttle times of about 10 – 20 minutes, which offer from 30 minutes to an hour’s worth of pure descending for each run…..where else would you get that ratio with a shuttle bus? If you have the legs for it, 25,000 meters of descending is possible in one week!

Typical Itinerary

We will ferry you, your bikes and luggage to a local and friendly hotel in the town of Ormea, nestled amongst the peaks of Val Tarrarro and this will be your base for the first 4 days of the tour. You will be introduced to your local Italian guides and shuttle crew and you will ride the trails of Calizzano, Finale Ligure and Nava. You will ride approximately 8 runs per day from the fast flowing and deserted singletrack in the beech forests of Calizzano to the high open alpine trails of Nava.

On the fourth day you will ride via the Val Tannaro and Colle di Nava before finally arriving in Molini di Triora, where your luggage will be waiting for you. You will be greeted by Andrea & Mariachiara and stay at their charming hotel Santo Spirito for the remainder of your holiday.

For the next two days you will ride the trails of Val Argentina and Nervia, which are longer and more natural with plenty of drop offs, rock gardens and switchbacks.

The final day we will ride the trails of Sanremo, different again, with big sandstone slabs and open sea views before finally enjoying a beer and gelato on the beach… the perfect end to a perfect holiday.

Bike Choice & Abilities

For the Shuttle Enduro Backountry package we recommend 130 – 160mm travel bikes preferably with reinforced tires and disc brakes no smaller than 180mm. A dropper post will be a good addition but not essential. Alternatively hire one of our bikes which are perfect for our terrain.

You don’t need to be at least intermediate level mountain biker to join our two centre tour.  If you are able to do a UK red graded trail without problems and have a can do attitude (there will be a learning curve) then our trails will be fine for you.
